Letter, 1783 August 23, Lancaster [Penn.], to Jane Mecom, Boston [Mass.].

Letter from Flagg to his "Hon[ore]d Grandmother" in which suggests that although the times are hard, our infant country must avoid foreign luxuries. He also notes seeing a newspaper article about Dr. Franklin returning to America. He describes his uncle as "the venerable Sage" and "the Philosopher, who has laid firm the Basis of American Glory."
